Keothavong fights into Luxembourg draw
Britain's Anne Keothavong came through qualifying at WTA Luxembourg to set up a first-round tie against local hope Mandey Minella.
Keothavong beat Czech world number 51 Lucie Hradecka 6-3 6-3 to earn a spot in the main draw, breaking her opponent three times and defending all the match points she gave up on her own serve.
Russia's Maria Kirilenko was spared a tense decider in her first round match when Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro had to retire injured.
Kirilenko had won the opening set in a tie break but lost the second before Suarez Navarro picked up the injury, and the Russian was leading 7-6(6) 3-6 3-0 when the match was handed to her.
