St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson has been handed a first call-up to the Scotland Under-21 squad for next month's UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan.
Davidson, 21, has been rewarded for his performances since Saints earned promotion to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League last summer.
He has been drafted into a 21-man squad for the March 2 match at Falkirk Stadium in place of injured Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan.
Head coach Billy Stark said: "Murray Davidson has been called up for the first time, although he's been on my radar for a long time. In fact, he was almost involved in one of the last squads but was carrying an injury.
"Murray gives us something different in being a box-to-box midfielder who gets into good scoring positions . He's also a physical presence.
"Now he's showing he can perform consistently in the Premier League and deserves a call-up. His inclusion also shows other players that there's always an avenue into the squad."
