World figure skating champion Patrick Chan won the men’s short programme at the Eric Bompard Trophy in Paris - despite falling.
Canada’s Chan totalled 84.16 points, his season-best for a short programme, even though he fell on his opening quadruple toe loop.
He overcame that slip by improvising on a later jump, turning it into a show-stopping triple Lutz.
Nan Song of China was second with 76.53 points, with Michal Brezina of the Czech Republic third with 74.32 points.
Aged only 15, Elizaveta Tuktamisheva of Russia won the women’s short program with 62.04 points.
Carolina Kostner of Italy was second on 59.70 points and Alissa Czisny third on 57.25 points.
In the ice dancing event, Canada’s Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Ilderton posted an easy victory in the short dance, finishing with 71.18 points.
In the pairs event, world silver medallists Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia won the short program.
The Paris event is the fifth of six qualifiers for the Grand Prix Final in Quebec, between December 8-11.
