Serpa claims stage win and overall lead
Androni-Giocattoli rider Jose Serpa won stage two of the Tour de San Luis and assumed overall lead of the race in Argentina.
The Colombian was first over the line at the summit finish on the Category One Mirador de Potrero just ahead of Italian Eros Capecchi (Liquigas-Cannondale).
Chilean national team rider Marco Arriagada and Movistar's Xavier Tondo came in third and fourth with Josue Moyano completing the top five.
Two-times Giro d'Italia winner Ivan Basso (Liquigas) finished over four minutes behind the leaders.
The summit finish was one of three gruelling climbs on the 156.6-km stage from Koslay to Mir del Potrero and the peloton was left in tatters after the final climb.
Stage three sees the peloton travel from Buena Esperanza to Villa Mercedes, a journey of 163.9km.
