The star sprinter will be joined by HTC-Columbia colleagues Michael Albasini, Tony Martin, Maxime Monfort, Michael Rogers, Hayden Roulston and Konstantsin Siutsou for the five-day race - and his team boss says he will be looking for stage wins from the off.

"He's ready to go and keen to race" said HTC-Columbia's sports director Brian Holm.

"In Andalusia we'll be supporting Mark 100 per cent for whatever sprints come up."

Holm added that Maxime Monfort and Michael Rogers would feature strongly in the time-trial fourth stage, and that they could win the general classification if all went well.

"Together with the mountain-top finish on the first day, that time-trial will probably decide the race," he said.

"However it's a very tough Tour of Andalusia this year, with a lot of climbing for so early in the season, and a break could go at any time."
