England finished top of the Six Nations championship for the first time in eight years on Saturday despite losing their final game 24-8 to Ireland in Dublin and missing out on a grand slam.
England topped the standings with eight points from four wins. Wales needed to beat France by at least 27 points in Paris to snatch the title but lost 28-9.
France, Ireland and Wales all finished with six points. Scotland were fifth on two points after beating Italy, also on two, who finished last for the fourth successive season.
England are the fourth different winners in four years following grand slams for France, Ireland and Wales.
