Three-time Olympic champion Marit Bjoergen anchored Norway to a storming victory in the FIS World Cup women’s 4x5km cross country relay in La Clusaz, France.
The 30-year-old recorded her 42nd World Cup win in Saturday’s 15km mass start and added another gold medal to her collection to lie within two wins of Soviet skier Elena Vaelbe’s all-time record of 45.
Wibeke Skofterud and Therese Johaug put Norway in a commanding position before Kristin Stoemer Steira, 15km freestyle bronze medallist, handed Bjoergen a 44.6 second advantage going into the final leg.
And Bjoergen sealed the win for Norway in 58:38.7 minutes, romping home 56.6 seconds ahead of Italy, with Sweden completing the podium 1:24.1 minutes back in third.
