Detroit Red Wings Pavel Datsyuk will have an opportunity to claim a record fifth straight Lady Byng trophy after being named a finalist for the NHL's most sportsmanlike player award on Wednesday.
Also nominated were Brad Richards of the Dallas Stars and Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
One of only three of the NHL's top 30 scorers this season to record fewer than 20 penalty minutes, Datsyuk topped the Red Wings in scoring for the fifth consecutive campaign with 70 points and led the league in takeaways.
Richards, the 2004 Lady Byng winner, finished seventh in league scoring with 91 points and only 16 minutes in penalties while St. Louis, runner-up to Datsyuk in Lady Byng voting the last three seasons, ranked sixth in scoring with 94 points while taking just 12 minutes in penalties.
The winner will be announced on June 23 at the NHL Awards show in Las Vegas.
