Juventus winger Milos Krasic returned from injury and suspension to again be the driving force in a 2-0 win at Genoa.

The visitors, who moved up to third in Serie A before the later matches, took a fortunate lead when Claudio Marchisio's deflected shot cannoned in off the post and the back of Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo.

Krasic, signed in the close season and fast becoming a fan favourite due to his resemblance to former Juve hero Pavel Nedved, made it 2-0 on 23 minutes when Eduardo could have done better to stop the Serbian's shot following a weaving run.

Genoa hit the bar and Luca Toni was booked for palming the ball into the net as new coach Davide Ballardini suffered his first defeat after two wins in his first two games in charge.

Second-placed Lazio lost ground on Milan, however, after a 1-1 draw at Parma that left the gap at three points. Milan had beaten Fiorentina 1-0 on Saturday.

Hernan Crespo struck midway through the first half against one of his former clubs, but Sergio Floccari replied for the visitors just before the interval.

There was bad news too for Internazionale, who slid to a 2-1 defeat at Chievo to fall nine points behind city rivals Milan.

In the pick of the other Sunday matches, Giampaolo Pazzini scored a hat-trick in Sampdoria's thrilling 3-2 win at Lecce, where Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano was again omitted following his row last month with the club president.

New Cagliari coach Roberto Donadoni got off to a winning start with a 2-1 comeback victory at Brescia.

Palermo required a second-half strike from Fabrizio Miccoli to shake off Cesena and seal a 2-1 win on the road, while a late goal from Christian Terlizzi was enough for Catania to sneak a 1-0 victory at home to Bari.

Napoli will face Bologna at home in the evening game.
