What is your earliest sporting memory?

The 1978 World Cup finals. I think that was probably about the time I started to watch football.

Not the worst time for a young Scot to start watching football, is it? If you weren't a footballer, what career would you have gone into?

I would probably have worked for my dad, who was a roof tiler. That's probably what I would have done. My dad used to take me out to work with him when I was young. I don't envy people doing that job. It's a really hard game. I don't think I would have been too good at it, but it's the one thing I could have fallen back on.

Which manager of any era do you admire most?

You've got to look at Alex Ferguson. He's done something phenomenal there. I find what Jose Mourinho does incredible. You have to admire them and think 'how do they actually do that?'.

What was your first car?

It was an Astra. A white one.

What is on your ipod?

All different things. I'm a varied kind of music person. It could vary from U2 to Bon Jovi. I'm not into one particular thing. The last bit of music I put on there was Aerosmith, I think.

What is the best place you've ever visited?

I remember I went out to Bethlehem when we played in Israel once. It was an experience. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be, if you know what I mean. It was just a different, fascinating place.

What would you sing at Karaoke?

Maybe Phil Collins or Neil Diamond. Something like that. I like Against All Odds. I'm hopeless at it, but that's one I have tried.

If you could have a dinner party with three people dead or alive - who would you pick?

I'd have Elvis Presley, he would be one. George Bush would be another one, and George Best.

What do you cook for them? Are you a dab hand in the kitchen?

I'm hopeless. Absolutely hopeless. Delia Smith could probably do all the food, now that I work here. I'm sure Delia could probably whip something up, but if you wanted someone to cook I guess you couldn't get anyone better!
