Leeds have confirmed striker Luke Varney as their third signing of the day with a deal also agreed for midfielder Rodolph Austin.
Portsmouth forward Varney, 29, has signed a two-year contract, while Jamaica international Austin, 27, is poised to join from Norwegian side SK Brann.
Former Crewe, Charlton, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday player Varney has been released by financially-stricken Portsmouth, for whom he scored six goals in 28 starts last season.
He also scored five goals in 31 appearances for Blackpool in the Barclays Premier League during the 2010/11 campaign.
Leeds manager Neil Warnock tried to sign Austin, comfortable in defence as well as midfield, while in charge at QPR and is now poised to get his man.
Earlier in the day, the West Yorkshire club completed the signings of striker Andy Gray, 34, released by Barnsley at the end of the season, and goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown, 31, who made 31 appearances for Portsmouth last season.
