St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes insists there will be no excuses when they take on Celtic in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League this weekend despite their lack of action recently.
Celtic ended their own spell of inactivity when they played host to Kilmarnock on Tuesday night but severe weather conditions mean Saints have not played since their win over St Mirren on December 11.
McInnes knows that means the Hoops could be sharper heading into the Boxing Day clash but claims his players are more than ready for the showdown at Parkhead.
"It will be good to get a game so hopefully our game will be fine this weekend," he said. "It's been frustrating not being able to play so we are looking forward to the game against Celtic and there will be no excuses in terms of preparation.
"It does help them that they have managed to get a game already this week.
"We've had a couple of practice matches but it's not the same as a competitive game so it is a wee bit of a concern but we have trained enough so once the game starts hopefully we will be fine. We will be ready for the game."
