France's Simon Fourcade will head to next month's Winter Olympics as the leader of the biathlon World Cup standings following another solid performance in Antholz-Anterselva.

He finished eighth in the men's 12.5km pursuit, enough to overhaul Evgeny Ustyugov's 17-point advantage in the standings after the Russian - clearly already looking towards Vancouver - placed a distant 39th.

Fourcade becomes the fifth different skier to wear the yellow bib this season.

Austria's Daniel Mesotitsch claimed his second career win with a near flawless shooting performance, crossing the line in 31 minutes 50.40 seconds.

Germany's Arnd Peiffer, who also only missed once on the range, was just under two seconds behind while Mesotitsch's team-mate Dominik Landertinger claimed third.

Germany's Andrea Henkel finished just over 23 seconds clear of in-form team-mate Magdalena Neuner in the women's 10km pursuit race while Norway's Ann Kristin Aafedt Flatland completed the podium.
