Salido too good for Yamaguchi in Mexico
Mexico's Orlando Salido defended his WBO Featherweight title with an impressive TKO over Japan's Kenichi Yamaguchi.
Salido had Yamaguchi down in the third and ninth rounds in his home town of Ciudad Obrego, Sonora before the referee finally put the challenger out of his misery with 10 seconds remaining in the 11th round.
Salido's record moves to 36-11-2 but eight of those losses came when he was between the ages of 15 and 21.
Salido won his title by upsetting Juan Maunel Lopez in Lopez's backyard of Puerto Rico and a rematch is now likely to be arranged.
Lopez was ringside and Salido said he would take on Lopez again "anytime, anywhere."
Salido and Lopez are currently ranked third and fourth respectively in the Ring Magazine's Featherweight rankings behind Indonesia's Chris John and the top ranked Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa.
