Canada keep medal chances alive
Amber Holland held her nerve to lift Canada over Switzerland at the Women’s World Curling Championships and keep her side in with a shout of medal in Esbjerg, Denmark.
Canada looked to be cruising to victory in this tie breaker after flying into a 3-0 lead after three ends, only for Switzerland to reduce the deficit to one after four.
But Canada regrouped and after seven ends had opened up a 7-3 lead.
The Swiss tested Holland’s courage as they replied with three in the eighth, but the Canadian skip showed what she is made of as she scored one in the final end to put the score beyond any doubt.
Canada will now face Denmark in the 3 vs 4 page playoff game on Saturday.
