The AG2R La Mondiale rider fought off the rest of the bunch to claim the win in 4:17.01 hours, with Canada's Dominique Rollin (Cervelo) and Italy's Enrico Rossi (Ceramica Flaminia) completing the podium.

Brice Feillu (Vacansoleil) controlled the early stages with Romain Bacon (Big Mat-Auber 93) and Feillu made a solo dash for the line with 9km to go.

But the peloton reeled the Frenchman, 25th in this year's Tour de France, and Ravard swept up to take the honours.

Anthony Roux retains the overall lead, five second ahead of Ravard.
