Miyazato, Lindberg lead in Quebec
Ai Miyazato and Pernilla Lindberg claimed a share of the lead after the first round of the Canadian Women's Open in Quebec.
Japan's Miyazato and Lindberg of Sweden shot seven-under 65s in wet conditions at the Hillsdale Golf and Country Club in Mirabel.
Canadian Samantha Richdale was a shot back after a 66 while defending champion Michelle Wie was at 67 along with Angela Stanford, Mi Hyun Kim, Song-Hee Sim and Jenny Shin.
“It was a good day,” Wie said. “The weather looked like it was going to be bad, but fortunately it never rained on us … maybe for like five minutes.
“I was trying to keep patient throughout the round,” she added.
Richdale's round of 66 on the 6,604-yard course was a career low and the 27-year-old from British Columbia stands alone in second heading into Friday's second round.
“I think it all came together today,” she said.
