Italian Andrea Guardini added stage four of the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia to his wins on stages two and three, but David Zabriskie hung on to the yellow jersey on Monday.

Wonderful victory for Andrea Guardini, his own seventh since the beginning of the year - 0

The Farnese Vini-Selle Italia rider triumphed in a bunch sprint at the conclusion of the 169.4-kilometre stage from Batu Pahat to Muar.

American Jake Keough (UnitedHealthcare) took second spot from Malaysian Harrif Saleh (Terengganu) but Guardini's victory was comfortable.

Zabriskie eased home in 70th to keep his one-minute lead in the 10-stage race from Adam Phelan of Drapac..

Louis Crosby (New Zealand national team), who led a breakaway that stayed out for much of the stage, was caught with 75m to go after hard work from Garmin Barracuda, with Guardini's Farnese Vini Selle Italia team then taking over the chasing duties alongside Astana to set up the win.

“Some thought the gap was too big but we never gave up hope,” said Guardini. "This is my nicest win because it took the most suffering.

"We believed in the win when nobody else did with 30km to go.

"Today's win sums up the perfect job of my team for catching the breakaway at the last minute. Other teams only rode for positions."

Guardini has moved to within one win of Grame Brown’s record at the Malaysian race.

Farnese Vini Selle Italia were a man down, with Brazilian Rafael Andriato forced to abandon the race due to a crash late on stage three.

The race concludes on Sunday with a stage that starts and finishes in Kuala Terengganu.
