Hirvonen understands team orders call

Citroen driver Mikko Hirvonen said he understood the team's decision not to allow him to challenge Sebastien Loeb for victory on Rally Argentina - despite the pair being split by just 2.1 seconds.

There remains 136 miles of competition on the fifth round of the World Rally Championship, but Loeb and Hirvonen will remain first and second, with Ford's Dani Sordo an increasingly distant third.

Hirvonen said: "You understand the team wants to be sensible and I understand it. I am disappointed, because I need the top points to stay in the drivers' championship after what happened in Portugal."

Hirvonen lost his first victory for Citroen on Rally of Portugal a result which would have given him the lead in the drivers' title race after his car was excluded for a problem with the clutch.
