Cesc Fabregas marked his home debut for Barcelona in La Liga with a fine goal to put the European champions 2-0 ahead against Villarreal on Monday.
The former Arsenal captain, who returned to his boyhood club this month after eight years with the Premier League side, raced on to a pass from Lionel Messi just before halftime at the Nou Camp, rounded goalkeeper Diego Lopez and slotted home.
The 24-year-old, who also scored from a Messi assist in Barca's 2-0 European Super Cup win over Porto on Friday, was at the Catalan club's youth academy with the Argentina forward, who is also 24.
The pair already look to have created a formidable partnership as Barca seek a fourth straight league title and a third Champions League crown in four years this season.
