Double world champion Shericka Jackson won the 200m on Sunday at the Jamaican athletics trials to set up a 100-200 sprint double gold bid at the Paris Olympics.Jackson, who already captured the 100, took the 200 in 22.29secs (1.6 m/sec wind) in Kingston and will race the 100 and 200 in France.
Dina Asher-Smith and Keely Hodgkinson had just completed their races but, even in such unseasonably cold weather, these two stars of British athletics were not leaving the side of the Manchester track. And there was a stand-out reason.
Two-time reigning world 200m champion Shericka Jackson delivered the fastest time in Saturday's qualifying heats in the event at the Jamaican Olympic trials.Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who also qualified in the 100m, did not compete in the 200m heats and reigning Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is injured and will not defend her crown in France.
