Torres can make difference in United clash

is clear to me that Fernando Torres is suffering from a lack of efficiency at
the moment, but he can put that right against Manchester United.

Spaniard has yet to reach his optimum physical condition, so he cannot be
considered as the key player that he was when he played for Liverpool.

the forward is having to cope with the pressure of his transfer fee and has to
acclimatise himself to his new team and new strike partners.

will need time to impose himself at Chelsea; even when you have invested £50
million for a striker, you still need to be patient in waiting for results.

believe that Torres is continuing to get better after each match, and he could
be a very important player for Chelsea
at the end of this season.

for the match itself, I cannot give you a front runner for this quarter-final.

can expect a close game with two athletic teams, who are extremely disciplined.

two teams know each other very well, and they are used to confrontations in very
important games.

have already had two matches against each other this year, with a victory apiece, and both managers know the tactics employed by the other.

Both will rely on their top class players unlocking the opposing defence,
and it will be a very tactical match.

during this kind of game, the skill and the flair of individual players will be
the key.

are top class players on both sides: Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba, Nani, Fernando
Torres... we can assume that the performances of those players will effectively
determine which side qualifies for the semi-finals.

people consider this game to be the top encounter of the Champions League quarter-finals, but I don't think it should be regarded as such.

as I already said, these two teams are used to playing against each other in
the Premier League. I
believe that a truly top Champions League match should see teams from two
different countries competing.

But the fact that the final will be played at Wembley will only provide additional
motivation for both sides.
