Ashley Cole won plaudits earlier this summer when he bucked the trend and became a rare entity in British football - a player who moves outside of the comfort zone of the Premier League to ply their trade abroad.
Such moves have not always been a success for those British players who have previously taken the plunge - it can prove tricky to learn a new language, make a new home in a new city, adapt to a new style of play and fit in with team-mates in a dressing room where English is not the first language.
Ian Rush famously commented that "it was like being in a foreign country" when talking about his time in Italy with Juventus.
So how is Cole doing so far since he signed for the Giallorossi?
Well, not so good, if a photo that has gone viral is any indication.
In the image, Cole can be seen standing awkwardly on the periphery of what otherwise appears to be a very together Roma squad.
