Hitting the bar is terrible luck.
Coming off the woodwork twice, in quick succession? Appalling misfortune.
But three times in as many seconds? Now you're just being careless.
That's the only conclusion ED could come to after watching this video of an Asian Champions League quarter-final match between Lekhwiya and Guangzhou Evergrande during the week.
Qatari side Lekhiwaya had home advantage, and high hopes of overturning the 2-0 first leg deficit from the opening match against the Chinese Super League champions.
But it all went horribly wrong, horribly quickly for Lekhiwaya as they let in two goals early in the match - and they surely knew that the final nail was in the coffin when they fluffed this trio of chances in the second half.
Lekhwiya went on to lose 4-1, but even that consolation goal was only a way of adding insult to injury: it was actually an own goal scored by Guangzhou's Zhang Linpeng, no doubt taking pity on his opponents and deciding to try and even things up by showing them the correct way to pop the ball in the back of the net.
