The forward clearly decided that a new contract demanded a new look and unveiled a brand new pair of hipster specs as he put pen to paper at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo - also famous for sporting pink caps and tight white speedos in his time - chose to pull a pose or two in front of the world's press, with Madrid president Florentino Perez becoming an unwitting sidekick.
The pose below is reminiscent of Derek Zoolander's Blue Steel - or is it Magnum? - leading us to wonder whether we will soon be hearing of a Cristiano Ronaldo Center For Children Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too.
Taking off his new glasses for a while, Ronaldo couldn't stop himself pouting again in perfect Zoolander fashion...
On second thoughts though, perhaps it isn't Zoolander who Ronaldo was trying to emulate. Given his ego, it's more likely his look was a homage to Superman himself, Clark Kent.
Given Ronaldo feels his real brilliance is obscured by Lionel Messi, maybe he empathises with Kent, who has to see out his day job at the Daily Planet before his alter ego takes all the credit.
Either way, Ronaldo's new look was met with a rather mixed reaction on Twitter....
Does Cristiano Ronaldo even need glasses? Or are we looking at pictures of the wealthiest hipster on the planet right now?

Main feature of Cristiano Ronaldo's press conference so far are his glasses. And guessing how much the endorsement deal is.
