Clubs are constantly accused of not engaging with fans or, when they do, not taking their ideas on board.
Well, one outfit is to not only hand all creative responsibility to their fans, but has promised to make do with their best efforts, no matter how shoddy.
New York City FC, announced as Major League Soccer's 20th franchise last May, currently sit just 13 months from making their MLS debut in March 2015.
So in anticipation of their high-profile bow, the club owned by Manchester City and the New York Yankees would now like their fans - YOU?! - to help them design a badge.
Not only that, but they've even gone so far as to provide an actual design tool for fans to use themselves in coming up with their soon-to-be-reluctantly-used masterpiece.
All of the submitted efforts (well, with the exception of obscene or offensive offerings, of course) will be provided to the official badge designer for their approval.
Even if your attempt is not taken up by the club, it will at least be incorporated into a "badge of badges" mosaic that will be displayed prominently on the club's official website and in hard form at the club's facilities - photos of which have been leaked.
You can see the various creations on Twitter using the hashtag #myNYCFC, but here are a few of the best and the worst so far. You can make your own mind up as to which category each falls in to...
