Under-pressure Manchester United boss David Moyes has sent an extraordinary letter to season-ticket holders, admitting this season has been a failure and asking for backing.

Moyes, whose debut season as United boss has been nothing short of disastrous, thanked fans for showing "loyalty" during troubled times, and admitted that the coaching staff were "desperate" to turn things around.

The former Everton boss called supporters "magnificent", before accusing forces from "outside the club" of trying to destabilise United.

You can read the letter in full below.

It appears to be a calculated attempt to appease season-ticket holders, who are said to be furious at plans to charge the same amount for Europa League matches next season as for the Champions League, provided United actually reach Europe's secondary club competition.

Whether Moyes' rallying-call will work remains to be seen.

Certainly though, it's another sign that all is not well at Old Trafford.
