What a fantastic Premier League season it was, what with Manchester City scoring goals for fun; Liverpool enthralling with their vibrant young team; Manchester United shocking with their unexpected slump; Jose Mourinho's 'little horse' fading down the stretch; and then of course Arsenal outclassing everybody to win the Premier League title.

Wait a minute…that last bit is not right!

Although you wouldn't know it by looking at the Premier League's official website team of the season.

Amazingly five, yes FIVE, Arsenal players made their team of the season including Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud, two players who were considered to be disappointments, as Arsenal faded from top in late January to finally finish in fourth place.

Even more astonishing may be the fact that Manchester City, who won the title, do not have a single player in the side.

Of course the Premier League dug their own grave here by leaving the vote for the team of the season up to the fans.

It seems that some Arsenal fans must have got together and hijacked the vote, but that did not stop the Premier League posting the team without commentary on their official Twitter account.

Unsurprisingly, most people were not impressed.

Here is a pretty typical sample of the reaction.
