Credit to Ashley Young, he has had a fantastic pre-season campaign in which he has started to prove his may doubters wrong with some impressive performances under Louis van Gaal.

And apparently his displays have not gone unnoticed across the channel, with observers in France particularly enamoured with his input as a right wing-back it seems.

On Tuesday, highly-respected French newspaper L'Equipe - notorious for its stingy player ratings - ran a feature on Europe's super clubs which was promoted on their front page.

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United were all featured, so L'Equipe naturally chose pictures of their leading stars to draw the readers in.

Bayern were represented by key summer signing Robert Lewandowski, who joined the club from arch rivals Borussia Dortmund, while world record signing Gareth Bale was pictured in his Real Madrid shirt.

United, though, had Young put forward as their leading representative - not Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney or Juan Mata. Ashley Young.

It is quite an endorsement for a player that many United fans wanted to see the back of this summer.

Maybe Paris Saint-Germain will be swayed when they pick up their papers this morning and enter a £45m bid....
