It is difficult to recall there was once a man called Luis Suarez scoring goals at Anfield such was the reaction on social media to the arrival of 'Super Mario'. A case of 'The King is dead, long live the king' perhaps. Or perhaps not.
Some folks seem to be of a mind that the arrival of Balotelli from Milan can catapult Liverpool into the frame for the Premier League title.
Whether or not that is a little premature, you sure there won't be too many quiet moments with Mario back in English football.
Not all football fans shared the general mood of enthusiasm. Most notably a celebrity Arsenal troll. Sorry fan.
I desperately wanted Arsenal to sign Mad Dog @FinallyMario . But now he's gone to Liverpool, I think he's an overrated, volatile liability.

The former England player Gary Lineker did not share such a mood of pessimism.
Love that Balotelli wears the number 45 shirt because 4+5 = 9. And you lot thought footballers were thick. #maths

But it didn't take long for some fans to predict great things from the new man.
This season will be mental. This year will be mental. Can't wait. @FinallyMario @ my life.

I can't stress enough how much I love that sodding fruitcake Mario Balotelli.

We were presented a raft of facts comparing Balotelli to Suarez.
There Liverpool fans just wanted a quick glimpse of their new hero. Did Ian Rush returning from Juventus ever receive such fanfare?
Adel Taarabt was tipping his former Milan companion for big things.
And the Italian media were saying farewell to Mario for a second time.
How will Liverpool look now? The Sun had a go with this little graphic.
And the plaudits kept coming.

Former City team-mate Shay Given is expecting fireworks. Which is hardly surprising.
Good luck @FinallyMario great to see you back in the premier league . Watch out for some fire works :-)
