Welcome to another edition of Overreaction Theatre, where we collate some of the more outlandish tweets from the world of football, or as is increasingly the case, the world of Manchester United.
Not surprisingly the Twittersphere went into absolute meltdown last night as United crashed to a 2-0 defeat in the Champions League with a limp performance that continued on over to the post-match interviews.
It was left to straight talking ITV pundit Roy Keane to call shenanigans on proceedings after a particularly dejected Michael Carrick gave his assessment of the match to Gabriel Clarke.
"That interview was just like the performance: flat. He should say a bit more, have a bit more urgency even in his interview," said Keano.
"That just reflected United's performance tonight: flat, with no urgency."
Well somebody connected with United DID show some urgency – a certain Mrs Lisa Carrick, Michael's better half, who immediately logged onto Twitter to tell Keano just what she thought of him.
One suspects Keano would have been more impressed with Lisa's reaction than Michael's, and even he might have been somewhat disappointed about what came next.
Most people on Twitter did seem to be on #TeamKeano though, with the Irishman earning rave reviews for the way he blasted United, David Moyes and the Premier League in general.
Meanwhile, as the action on the pitch in Athens was unfolding there were plenty of funny assessments of United's abject performance.
It’s not all bad for Moyes, though. Twitter’s best new parody account had some words of consolation.
See you again in a few days Mr. Moyes.
