DTotD: Atletico Nacional midfielder receives red card 27 seconds into match

Mexican referee Marco Rodriguez is not a man to be messed with.

The official was overseeing a match between Colombian champions Atlético Nacional and Uruguay's Club Nacional in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday night when his patience was tested... after only 27 seconds.

Most players escape unscathed at such an early juncture of matches, but Rodriguez was not for hanging about as he decided Atlético midfielder Bernal would need to walk for a violent lunge on Maximiliano Calzada.

In studying the replays, the referee was in the right to brandish the red card, but Early Doors is still amazed that he had the bottle to reach for the red so early in the game.

In the end, it did not cost 10-man Atletico, who recovered from trailing 2-0 at half-time to earn a 2-2 draw.

But well done, Mr Rodriguez. And let this video be a lesson to all you cloggers out there who are only interesting in roughing up unsuspecting opponents with horrible tackles.
