Ah, the pitfalls of Twitter.

Ordinarily it is players who get into scrapes on social media.

However, this time, new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is the toast of Twitter following his tweet early on Monday.

It has been well-documented that Southampton have effectively been asset-stripped this summer with a host of their stars leaving the club.

Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren have all left for Liverpool while Luke Shaw has moved to Manchester United. Koeman himself is a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, who was headhunted by Tottenham.

With Calum Chambers the latest player expected to leave the club, Koeman is, to steal a phrase from Harry Redknapp, down to his bare bones.

Therefore, when he tweeted this picture this morning, it caught fire on Twitter.

There is debate as to whether he was having a sly dig at the club or he has accidentally trolled his own club.

We at Early Doors honestly believe the poor guy was just trying to make use of his social media account in a positive way, as far as club affairs were concerned.

And yet he also in a turnabout way proved why very few managers at the highest level have their own social media accounts.

Whatever the intentions of the tweet, it sure was funny.

Koeman appears to be the only active Premier League manager on Twitter. Do you think that that is a bad idea? Let us know in the comments section below.
