After scoring the equaliser in Manchester United’s come-from-behind victory over Stoke, Wayne Rooney was in high spirits for his 28th birthday party on Saturday night.

And to ensure her other half was indeed all smiles at the weekend, wife Coleen Rooney booked Roy Chubby Brown to perform stand-up comedy.

Lounge 10's grandiose Speakeasy bar was closed off to the public while friends of the couple were bussed in from Liverpool, report Manchester Evening News.

Brown, 68, is thought to have made his entrance after the group had eaten.

He is known as an ‘x-rated’ performer who pulls no punches and for whom little is out of bounds, which has landed his act in hot water on several occasions.

Brown has been performing for six decades now and has starred in a number of shows released on video and DVD with titles such as ‘Too Fat to be Gay’ and ‘Obscene and Not Heard’.
