Ahead of the Euro 2012 finals, we take a close look at a player who has been pushed into action for France following an injury to Bacary Sagna.
Full name: Mathieu Debuchy
Date of birth: July 2. 1985 (age 26)
Place of birth: Fretin, France
Height: 1.77 (5ft 9.5 in)
Position: Right back/right midfielder
Current club: Lille
Previous clubs: None
Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Valencia and Newcastle are among the European clubs linked with the Lille right-back, who is a product of his club's youth system.
Reports suggest he could be available for around £7 million, but that price tag could rocket if Debuchy impresses at Euro 2012.
He likes to get forward and can also weigh in with a goal as was shown when he gave France fresh hope in their 3-2 friendly win over Iceland on Sunday with the visitors leading 2-0 on the night. It was his first goal for France.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson watched Debuchy against Lyon in March and may be tempted to get his chequebook out as he bids to strengthen United's bid to reclaim the Premier League title from Manchester City next term.
At the age of 26, Debuchy is ripe for a move to a bigger club having helped Lille claim the Ligue 1 title in the 2010-11 season. He was also named in the Ligue 1 team of the season this year.
Debuchy's France team-mate Yohan Cabaye has apparently told him he would be welcomed as a Newcastle player at St James' Park, but he is unlikely to be short of options.
Debuchy was born in the French town of Fretin and joined Lille at the age of eight. He made his debut at the outset of 2004 and has made 218 appearances for the club.
He was out for six months when he damaged knee ligaments in 2006. As he recovered from injury, Debuchy signed a contract extension until 2010 to illustrate his importance to the team.
He is solid in defence, but also likes to contribute to attack. He has a particular desire to embark on long runs and also enjoys crossing the ball with some regularity.
He is more than likely to add to his four caps for France at Euro 2012.
