  • Tactical review: Weird weekend

It was a weird weekend in Fantasy, with only two Premier
League matches taking place (the third, between Manchester
    City and Blackburn
    is tonight).

Frustratingly, the West Ham v Wolves game was called off one
minute after the noon Saturday deadline, leaving managers in the lurch.

Points from rearranged games count towards the week when
they are played, so if your stars had their matches postponed, hard luck. What
it does mean is plenty of double weeks coming up.

Even for those managers who managed to fill their team with
players from the handful of active clubs, points were hard to come by.

Another week, another absent Manchester United defender. This time it's Nemanja Vidic, whose silly red card at the end of Tuesday's defeat at Chelsea means he must sit out United's trip to Anfield.

Also on the sidelines are Arsenal threesome Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott. The former might play against Barcelona next week but has been ruled out of the game against Sunderland.

Fantasist favourites Martin Kelly and DJ Campbell are also out, with a hamstring strain and a richly deserved three-match ban respectively.

The Fantasist mull over this week's selection dilemmas with users.

After the giddy fun of a big double-game week, the upcoming schedule is an odd one.

Nine games - Manchester United play twice, Arsenal, Birmingham and Spurs do not play at all.

No doubt there will be plenty of chopping and changing - with United players proving popular choices.

Rio Ferdinand will miss Manchester United's Premier League encounter with city rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The England defender picked up the injury before United suffered their first league defeat of the season in going down 2-1 at Wolves last weekend.

The United skipper is not expected to return until the end of February at the earliest.

United are five points ahead of City having played a game less.

They will bolster their title hopes considerably with a win, but could also be without Darren Fletcher, who withdrew from Scotland's match with Northern Ireland on

As you may have seen from the heartbroken post on Saturday, The Fantasist missed the deadline for changing its team, and has been inconsolable ever since.

A weekend of fantastic sport which saw Birmingham beat Arsenal to the Carling Cup, England's rugby team beat France and the cricket team snatch a sensational tie with India was completely overshadowed by the six players retained in the team who did not play. The Fantasist wore a resigned expression of self-inflicted defeat much like those on the faces of Laurent Koscielny and Wojcich Szczesny did on Sunday.

Rather aptly, six was the same

We may be in the midst of a double-gameweek in Fantasyland, but there's no harm in a quick injury update from the Premier League anyway.

Bolton's Zat Knight is expected to be out for around a month after injuring his knee in the win over Everton. The initial estimate had been longer, but the defender is convinced he will back in action sooner rather than later.

After ending his 15-month absence from the game with a half-hour cameo against Milan, Tottenham's Jonathan Woodgate has suffered a groin injury, and awaits tests to find out the severity of the problem.

    Spurs also expect to have

    round of Yahoo! Fantasy Football.

After all the big moves from the January transfer
window, the available options have been wildly increased and there are a number of
gambles which could make or break your week.

You sent in your questions, queries, and talking points for the Fantasist to discuss, such as whether Luis
Suarez or Fernando Torres were the best bet for this week?

Would managers throw their newly-acquired talent
straight into their sides from the outset, or would the substitute benches be
    brimming with talent?

Last weekend was a real party in the Premier League. It's hard to imagine how anyone could have had a poor week with goals flying in all over the place.

Unsurprisingly, Louis Saha's four-goal haul against Blackpool made him the week's top scorer (47.5) and price mover (+6.49), with Joey Barton, James McCarthy and, inevitably, Carlos Tevez also piling on the points.

Despite that, and bringing in a haul of 109.5 points, The Fantasist can't help but feel a little disappointed with its team.

John Carew was the only one of its three strikers to get in on the scoring act, while Charlie Adam and
