  • Matchday review: Gunned down

It's safe to say that Arsenal fans aren't the only ones rueing West Brom's surprise victory at the Emirates on Saturday.

Almost a quarter of players in the game - including The Fantasist - eyed defender Laurent Koscielny as nailed-on for a clean sheet, but instead the Frenchman posted minus three points as the Gunners lost 3-2, with team-mate Sebastien Squillaci faring little better.

Marouane Chamakh was picked by nearly 50 per cent of teams, but his first failure to score at home for Arsenal was reflected in his dismal 2.5-point haul.

So thank goodness for Samir Nasri (29.00), whose scored a

  • Matchday review: Lamps in shade

It was another so-so round of fixtures for The Fantasist's team last weekend, as Theo Walcott (20.50) defied expectation by getting on the scoresheet again and Wayne Rooney (20.50) and Fernando Torres (21.50) both ended their respective barren runs.

Time was when Frank Lampard used to nail home from 12 yards so consistently that you could be forgiven for thinking his full name was 'Frank Lampard (pen)'.

However, following his misses in the FA Cup final and in England's pre-World Cup friendly against Japan, Lamps has brought that poor spot-kick form back with him to the Premier League.

    His

Chelsea duo Salomon Kalou and Yossi Benayoun are among the high-profile casualties from this week's Carling Cup matches. They, along with clubmate Gael Kakuta, face several weeks on the sidelines.

Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs is another midweek crock, while Wigan's Franco Di Santo, Ronnie Stam and Hendry Thomas are also walking wounded.

Among the injuries from last weekend are Cesc Fabregas, Steve Harper and Moussa Dembele.

  • Euro update: Wizard of Ozil

Gameweek Two of Fantasy Europe Cup is almost upon us, and The Fantasist is here to give you some tips on where the value lies.

You have 200 million euros to spend to compete with Europe's best, choosing from all squad players at the 32 clubs who have qualified for the group stages of the Champions League.

You may fancy Arsenal to win on their trip to Partizan Belgrade, but if they do it will be no thanks to goalkeeper Manuel Almunia, who is injured. If you brave enough to plump for cut-price replacement Lukasz Fabianski then you may be rewarded.

  • Matchday review: Shock of the new

This weekend's performances for The Fantasist's team proved how sometimes you need to put your trust in experience rather than being too quick to embrace the new kids on the block.

With Premier League new-boys such as Rafael van der Vaart (6.00), Hatem Ben Arfa (1.50) and Carlos Salcido (did not play) all at invitingly low prices, the temptation proved too strong to try and sniff out a bargain.

Of course, VdV's showing against West Brom and in the Champions League is cause for optimism that the Dutchman is a worthwhile investment - but on the whole it didn't work out.

    Even more galling is the

Fantasy Europe Cup is underway, and we give you some tips on where the value lies.

You have 200 million euros to spend to compete with Europe's best, choosing from all the squad players at the 32 clubs who have qualified for the group stages of the Champions League.

Whatever formation you select, you have to select a goalkeeper. The obvious names such as Iker Casillas, Edwin van der Sar, Julio Cesar and Petr Cech are obviously priced at 16-25m.

But for good value look a little lower down the list, with Arsenal's Manuel Almunia a cut-price 9m and Hans-Joerg Butt of last year's finalists Bayern

  • Injury report: Gameweek five

A bad week for leg breaks saw Bobby Zamora and Antonio Valencia ruled out for most of the season with horrific injuries.

Fulham and England striker Zamora suffered a nasty break just above his ankle in a challenge with Wolves' Karl Henry and is expected to be out for five months.

As a result you should look to bring in team-mate Moussa Dembele, who has plenty of goals in him - hitting a winning brace after Zamora's injury. The Belgian will lead the line against Blackburn as Fulham seek to snap their away jinx.

Manchester United's Ecuador winger Valencia suffered a sickening ankle fracture and
