Gameweek six is almost upon us, and The Fantasist is here to
provide you with some tips on where the true value lies.
You have 200 million euros to spend to compete with Europe's
best, choosing from all squad players at the 32 clubs who have qualified for
the group stages of the Champions League.
Chelsea's home clash with MSK Zilina is probably sticking out as
the chance to plunder points for your side, while Internazionale host FC Twente
and Barcelona travel to Panathinaikos in other notable opportunities.
Carlo Ancelotti will rest goalkeeper Petr Cech and striker
Nicolas Anelka, among other changes, and there should be a host of cheap
second-string players to slot into your side.
Ross Turnbull (4m) will start between the sticks, while
midfielder Jacob Mellis (1m) or Josh McEachran may also be in line for a starting
berth, and Jeffrey Bruma (1m) will play alongside Branislav Ivanovic (10m).
Arsenal take on Sporting Braga in Portugal, and left-back Kieran
Gibbs (7m) and striker Nicklas Bendtner (10m) are the bargain starters you
should consider slotting into your side.
Real Madrid travel to Ajax having already assured themselves of
a place in the last 16 of the competition, but without the injured duo of Gonzalo
Higuain and Sami Khedira for the clash.
The pair's absence should present opportunities for France
striker Karim Benzema (25m) and midfielder Lassana Diarra (15m), with neither
having featured much for Jose Mourinho's side thus far this campaign.
The pressure is firmly on Rafael Benitez as his Inter side host
FC Twente, and the holders will find out on Tuesday if talismanic striker
Samuel Eto'o will join the lengthy absentee list after headbutting Chievo defender
Cesar in the chest in Serie A.
Jonathan Biabiany (8m) and Goran Pandev (20m) should be in line
for a start, and both are reasonably priced for a side which has a point to
prove to their mounting critics against modest opposition.
Roma host already-qualified Bayern Munich eyeing progression
themselves, and Frenchman Jeremy Menez's renaissance may encourage you to part
with 20m to slip him into your side.
Werder Bremen were handed a galling 6-0 drubbing by Stuttgart in
the Bundesliga following their previous Champions League clash (a 2-0 home
defeat at the hands of FC Twente) and Tottenham could be in prime shape to
exploit their defensive weaknesses.
At 18m, Rafael van der Vaart should be chucked into your team
for the clash, and if you haven't already found a spot for 'defender' Gareth
Bale (16m), then you should atone for your slack selection thus far by getting
the prolific Welsh wizard involved immediately.
And finally, Valencia entertain Bursaspor at the Mestalla, and
would you really bet against Juan Manuel Mata (20m) getting on the scoresheet upon his return to the side,
or the likes of Hedwiges Maduro (12m) not having their defence breached?
