It looks as though Didier Drogba is losing his race to be ready for Sunday's clash away to Manchester United.
The big Ivorian suffered a concussion during the home win over Norwich at the end of August, and it is thought he will still not have recovered in time for the trip to Old Trafford.
Arsenal have three players returning from suspension ahead of their trip to Blackburn for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off - Gervinho, Emmanuel Frimpong and Carl Jenkinson - but Thomas Vermaelen and Jack Wilshere are set to be out until mid to late-October through injury.
Tottenham will be without key centre-back Michael Dawson when Liverpool come to White Hart Lane on Sunday. Already missing William Gallas with a calf injury, Dawson has been ruled out until November with a damaged Achilles.
Emile Heskey could be out until next month with a hamstring problem, while West Brom's Gabriel Tamas begins a retrospective three-match ban for violent conduct after the Romanian elbowed Norwich's James Vaughan in the mouth but got away with it at the time.
