It proved to be a mixed weekend for the
Fantasist, whose team dropped out of the top 10 in the combined Superleagues
despite some big individual scoring.
The biggest of all was Andy Carroll, who
weighed in with a hat-trick and a huge 39.5 points to thoroughly vindicate the
Fantasist's recommendation of the Newcastle striker. "I like him"
were the exact words used in last Friday's selection blog.
Unfortunately, Theo Walcott's similarly
barnstorming performance (also 39.5) went unpredicted but at least Florent
Malouda (14), Marouane Chamakh (19.5) and Didier Drogba 13) all contributed
Gael Clichy (13) was also a solid
performer, but the selection of Graham Dorrans backfired somewhat, the West
Brom midfielder only adding a measly five points.
And the less said about David Silva (zero
points, did not play) and Stephen Carr (1pt, rubbish) the better.
But the worst decision of the week came in
the position of goalkeeper. Despite having recommended Ben Foster (20.50) and Jussi
Jaaskelainen (9.16), the Fantasist plumped for Tim Howard (big fat zero) in the
end. Why? It will forever remain a mystery.
