Tactical review: Drog abuse

A decent week for the Fantasist was ruined by its recommendation of both Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, who were rested against Bolton on Saturday.

What with Didier Drogba also putting his feet up, there were plenty of misfiring attacks in Fantasyland.

On the face of it, Frank Lampard had a tough match-up against Aston Villa, but he was the week's stand-out performer by far, bagging 47.5 points.

Ferdinand aside, the defensive selections went well. Heurelho Gomes (16 pts) and Nemanja Vidic (22.5 pts) were superb, while Jamie Carragher (7 pts) did a decent job.

Jimmy Bullard (21.5 pts) was the stand-out performer in midfield, but Ryan Giggs (1.5 pts) and Luka Modric (4 pts) received scant reward for what were decent performances. Apparently, assisting an own-goal doesn't count...

Up front, we have high hopes for Carlos Tevez this evening (likewise Adam Johnson and Shay Given), but the penny-pinching decision to go for Dirk Kuyt (0.5 pts) proved a flop. Just pick Fernando Torres. It's easy.

Elsewhere Peter Crouch (17 pts) was one of the few big-name strikers to pull his weight on a weird weekend.
