The Yahoo Fantasy Premier League Week 1 deadline is fast approaching, so we've taken a look at five players we recommend for your fantasy team this week.
Erik Lamela (Tottenham) / Midfielder / £2.77 million - Branded a £30 million flop last season, Lamela only featured in six Premier League games due to poor form and injury, but is now fit and has stated he is enjoying working under fellow Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino. With two man-of-the-match performances and three goals in pre-season, the winger is looking quick and confident, showing creativity and shooting plenty. At a price of less than £3m in the Yahoo fantasy game due to his dissapointing performances in 2013/14, Lamela should be under consideration for your squad as he's set to start in an attacking midfield role.
Kieran Trippier (Burnley) / Defender / £5m - This may well be a new name to many readers, but Trippier is being tipped for big things. The right-back has been named in the Championship team of the year for the past two seasons and now gets his chance in the Premier League after helping Burnley to promotion last season. The 23-year-old is a solid defender but his strength is getting forward, with plenty of assists, crosses and shots on target - all important contributions that will be rewarded by the Yahoo scoring system.
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) / Midfielder / £13.26m - It was no coincidence that Arsenal's time at the top of the Premier League quickly came to an end after Ramsey was injured last season. He was outstanding in the early months, creating chances, scoring goals from all angles and his pre-season performances suggest he's back to full fitness and sharpness. The Gunners have a winnable home game against Crystal Palace, so Ramsey should be high on your list of players to consider for your fantasy midfield.
Stevan Jovetic (Manchester City) / Forward / £5.87m - A forgotten man at times last season but Jovetic will need to stand-up in the absence of the injured Alvaro Negredo and with Sergio Aguero not fully fit. The striker been in excellent form in pre-season, scoring goals for fun against the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan, and is priced at an absolute bargain price of under £6m for Manchester City's trip to Newcastle.
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) / Forward / £16.80m - Looking slim and playing well during Manchester United's extensive pre-season tours. With Robin van Persie out injured it leaves Rooney as the focal point of all attacks, he'll be on penalty duty and he should get his fair share of corners and set pieces around the penalty area. Louis van Gaal has handed Rooney the captain's armband which suggests he's been impressed with the striker's attitude and past experience has shown he is at his best when he feels wanted. The top pick of the week for the home game against Swansea.
