Daily Dime: Nathan Karns, Kris Bryant and $63 worth of outfielders

We've got a full slate on a Monday, so let's make good choices, gamers. Be sure to check the game-time weather conditions before finalizing lineups.

P Nathan Karns, Sea, $40 (vs. SD) – As a team, the Padres rank next-to-last in MLB in team batting average (.227) and on-base percentage (.286). So the match-up really couldn't get much better. Karns has struck out a batter per inning on the season and he hasn't allowed more than three runs, earned or unearned, in any of his last six starts.

P Ian Kennedy, KC, $42 (vs. TB) – Kennedy has pitched well to this point, striking out 53 batters over 53.1 innings and posting a 1.16 WHIP. The Rays are obviously something less than a run-scoring juggernaut, ranking in the bottom-third of the A.L. in runs (198), AVG (.239) and OBP (.310).

C Chris Iannetta, Sea, $7 (Cashner) – If you're spending the minimum at catcher, you might as well buy the guy who gets to face Cashner.

1B Chris Johnson, Mia, $7 (Locke) – Johnson is 7-for-15 lifetime against Locke, so we can assume he'll find his way into the lineup for the Fish.

2B Howie Kendrick, LAD, $10 (Hammel) – Kendrick has been surging lately, batting .301 in May, plus he's had plenty of success against Hammel over the years (7-for-16).

3B Kris Bryant, CHC, $22 (Wood) – Bryant has five multi-hit games in his last nine, with four homers during the binge (and seven for the month). He seems well-matched against Alex Wood, too.

SS Jed Lowrie, Oak, $9 (Santana) – Lowrie is recently back from the DL, still batting .300 and hitting near the top of the order for Oakland. Ervin Santana on the mound (1.49 WHIP) isn't exactly a deal-breaker.

OF Odubel Herrera, Phi, $20 (Roark) – Herrera is slashing .328/.435/.460 for the season, so he's basically guaranteed points. He has a nice enough history against Roark, too, in limited chances (3-for-6, 2B, BB).

OF Charlie Blackmon, Col, $22 (Straily) – He's hitting .321 in May with 12 XBHs, and I wanted a piece of the Straily-visits-Coors action.

OF Jose Bautista, Tor, $21 (Nova) – Bautista is hitting well in recent weeks and Nova hasn't been much of a challenge for him in prior meetings (9-for-27, 4 XBH, 7 BB).
