Sharapova beat Halep in three sets, 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-4, in a physical and bruising encounter in the final of the French Open.
Mats said Sharapova won because "at the big moments, she played her best tennis".
The Russia proved once again to be a great counter-puncher and utilised her extra power and superior reach to overcome her opponent.
Although Sharapova "got a bit tight" in the second set tie-break, Mats explained why she had the staying power to beat Halep.
Mats also analysed the men's doubles final, which was won by Frenchmen Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
Don't forget that the men's final comes today. Mats helped preview a titanic match between Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
