Mats Wilander could barely believe what he was watching during Gael Monfils's match against Fabio Fognini.

The pair played out a match that was "like watching tennis from the 80s", Wilander said because it was so slow.

Monfils eventually beat the Italian in five sets, but in bizarre fashion as he responded to losing the fourth set 0-6 by winning the fifth 6-2.

As Wilander said, Monfils has always been a "strange and frustrating" player, but Fognini played his part in what was an unusually slow match.

Wilander also had his say on Andy Murray's marathon match with Philipp Kohlschreiber, which had to go to a second day, such was the intense competition between the pair.

Finally, our expert turned his attention to the fine run in the tournament by Svetlana Kuznetsova and identified what it is about her game that makes her so effective on clay.
