This is how Pirates fans hope to rattle Jake Arrieta in the NL wild-card game

Two years ago, when the Pittsburgh Pirates were hosting the Cincinnati Reds in the NL wild-card game, PNC Park was rocking with rabid fans. And that gave us one very clear instance in which fans affected the outcome of a game.

The Pirates fans chanted at Reds starter Johnny Cueto early in the contest. "Cue-to, Cue-to," they said, as he folded under the pressure. He dropped the ball while walking around the mound, then allowed a homer to Russell Martin right after. The Pirates won 6-2 that night and advanced to the NLDS.

They're faced with a similar challenge Wednesday night, only the Chicago Cubs stand between the Bucs and more of October. After dropping a wild-card game last year to the Giants, it appears the Pirates fans are trying to be a factor once again.

Local TV/radio station KDKA created what's essentially an inning-by-inning cheer sheet for Pirates fans. Complete with instructions to mock Arrieta like they did Cueto.

Hey, it worked once, right? It goes to show how heightened the stakes are in this game. We aren't just talking about two hangers-on who barely made the postseason. These are the second and third best teams in all of baseball, but since the division foe St. Louis Cardinals were better, the Cubs and Pirates meet in the wild card.

Neither team wants to go home after one game. So if the Pirates fans have to learn pre-arranged chants like it's a college basketball game, that's what they'll do.
