Duke brings in walk-on's parents for scholarship surprise (Video)

Duke walk-on defensive end Danny Doyle worked his way to the top of the team’s depth chart by the time spring practice came to an end. This week, Blue Devils head coach David Cutcliffe decided it was time Doyle was rewarded.

With the help of a phone call from Doyle’s parents, Cutcliffe delivered the good news – Doyle has been put on scholarship – during a team meeting. His reaction was priceless. The team’s was too.

Doyle, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound junior, has appeared in only two games during his Duke career. It looks like the Bradenton, Fla., native is in line for a major increase in playing time in 2016.
