Chronicles of Stanley: Scotty Bowman day with Cup No. 14; baby Versteeg's 'Blue Steel'

The Chronicles of Stanley is an occasional series this summer that tracks the Chicago Blackhawks as they each get their special alone time with the Stanley Cup.

Let's get the elephant out of the room right away: this was going to be Patrick Kane's weekend with the Cup. His celebration went from public to private due to the ongoing investigation and Puck Daddy covered the decision here.

Moving on...

Scotty Bowman might as well pencil in 'Stanley Cup Day' to his schedule every single year. The hockey legend has nine (9!!) Cups as a coach and five as a front office executive; for those not so good with math, that's 14 in total.

The Blackhawks 'senior advisor,' along with team GM, his son, Stan, visited Canisius High School in upstate New York as part of the elder Bowman's day:

Earlier in the week, Kris Versteeg's nine-week-old son Jaxson gives his best Blue Steel as mom and dad place him inside the bowl. (Preview of the Versteeg family Christmas card, perhaps?)

Later, Versteeg brought the Cup to the least scary looking K-9 unit in the world.

Duncan Keith took the most Canadian of Canadian pictures with Lord Stanley and a moose last week. Teammate Kyle Cumiskey doesn't have a stuffed moose, but he does have a live horse!

Finally, Coach Joel Quenneville kicked off his time with the Cup at Advocate Children's Hospital in Illinois. He and his mustache brought smiles to everyone!
