Joseph Blandisi really earned this embellishment penalty (Video)

Andrew MacDonald of the Philadelphia Flyers was called for slashing midway through the first period Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils. It was a good call and one that should have given the Devils a power play.

The player he slashed, however, did his part in making things 4-on-4 for the next two minutes with an Oscar-worthy embellishment. Officials didn’t miss Joseph Blandisi overselling the call and made him sit for two minutes.

No doubt a slash to the back of the leg stings a bit, but Blandisi doesn’t even Superman fly in the direction you’d expect him to considering the angle of MacDonald’s hack.

Blandisi should earn himself a warning for this from the NHL’s Hockey Operations Department, unless he’s heard from them previously, in which he could be a little lighter in the pocket very soon.
