NHL Three Stars: Jagr, Trocheck lead Panthers; Kinkaid blanks Sharks

No. 1 Stars: Vincent Trocheck / Jaromir Jagr, Florida Panthers

A four-point night from Trocheck and a pair of goals from Jagr helped the Panthers rout the Ottawa Senators 6-2. For Jagr, it was his 127th career multi-goal game, tying him for 9th place all-time with Mike Bossy.

No. 2 Star: Keith Kinkaid, New Jersey Devils

The Devil got goals from Devante Smith-Pelly and Travis Zajac while Kinkaid stopped 30 shots in a 3-0 win over the San Jose Sharks. The shutout was Kinkaid's second of his career and second in his last four starts.

No. 3 Star: Alex Galchenyuk, Montreal Canadiens

Galchenyuk remained red hot in Montreal’s 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres. For the third game in a row and fourth time in his last five, the young center recorded a multi-goal game. In his last eight games, Galchenyuk was 11 goals, helping overtake Max Pacioretty for the team lead. According to Elias, he's the first Habs player with five multi-goal games in an 8-game span since Jean Beliveau in 1959.

Honorable Mention: Phillip Di Giuseppe’s goal 90 seconds into overtime gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins. Noah Hanifin recorded a pair of assists in his return to Boston and Cam Ward made 30 stops.

Bruins rookie David Pastrnak tied the game early in the third period by destroying a poor water bottle.

The Detroit Red Wings scored twice in the second and once in the third to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2. Justin Abdelkader’s goal with 4:36 snapped the 2-2 tie and helped Detroit end a three-game slide. Dylan Larkin scored his 20th of the season, making him the 16th rookie in franchise history to reach the mark … What a great save by Martin Jones:

Connor McDavid’s goal with 7:29 left in the third period was the difference as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1. Cam Talbot made 29 saves for his fifth win in six starts. He’s allowed a total of seven goals over that stretch.

Dishonorable Mention: P.K. Subban was stretchered off the ice after a collision with teammate Alexei Emelin near the end of the game. He was alert while being taken to local hospital. According to the Habs, he was able to move his extremities … Injury snapped Jason Pominville’s ironman streak of 231 consecutive games played … San Jose fell to 12-15-3 at SAP Center this season.
